Robie has everything to succeed as the new pop star. We interviewed her and exclusively presented her new theme and video: With you, a hit produced by Javiera Mena, plus video directed by Laura Put.
Robie is the musical project of Roberta Nikita , a 24-year-old girl, half Swedish, half Spanish. Although she has recently arrived on the national music scene, she has been uploading original songs and covers to her YouTube channel for 3 years. She is currently in one of the labels with more vision of the Spanish scene, Woah! Music from renowned producer Alizzz . She already has everything to succeed as a new pop star. And now premieres with us 'Contigo', a new hit produced by nothing less than Javiera Mena . The video clip, which he presents exclusively with us, has been directed by the multifaceted Laura Put . We talked to Robie about this new song and his musical projects.
How was this musical project born? In 99 when I played a piano for the first time, I was 4 years old and all I do now is a cocktail of what I've heard since that time.
Why did you want to devote yourself to music? I fell asleep in the sound tests that my mother took me because I had no one to stay with, the concerts fascinated me, to see how everyone connects through a song.
Robie: “Javiera Mena heard me complain at a dinner that I couldn't find women producers for my first EP and we started writing 'With you' from a distance Madrid / Chile and with Laura Put there was magic from the beginning I love how her head works, we developed the idea until it became 'With You' ”
What did you want to have with this theme of 'With you'? The adoration towards myself. And why is it called 'With you'? It was cool to think that when people heard it, they thought it was dedicated to someone and when they saw the video, they saw the reality.
And with the video clip? What aesthetic follows? The aesthetics of everything I like, Ali Express, the pink and the 2000´s.
You have had Javiera Mena and Laura Put in production and direction of the video, why with them? Javiera heard me complain at a dinner that I could not find women producers for my first EP and we started writing 'With you' from Madrid / Chile and with Laura there was magic from the beginning I love how his head works, we developed the idea until what became 'with you'.
Why an entirely female team? It is very important for me to put creative women in positions of power. It creates a very special mood. Both Javi and Laura and Carmen Plaza the choreographer, Beatriz Vargas in MUA, Ana Marti in photo, my dancer Noe and Elena Gallén lending us a hand. Having these women in my team for me has been a dream.
Now that urban music is up to an almost past boom and new pop, do you see yourself moving towards another musical style in the future? I do not see myself in urban music nor do I think that anyone is inventing anything in the end we are a set of inspirations and for me what sticks is how popular the style is.
Robie: “It is very important for me to put creative women in positions of power. It creates a very special mood. Having these women in my team for me has been a dream. ”
What musical label would you wear? Pop.You are with the Whoah seal! Music, how do you feel identified with that label? I feel identified with the people who work in it, like Alizzz, music lovers and crazy about a banger.
Who would you like to collaborate with? C. Tangana.Your current BSO. DJ Marta - 'What I want is to party'.2020 plans. Live and tell you.If you want to know more about Robie, follow her on Instagram .
